CHARGE Syndrome Australia announcement
November 2025
Over the last 30 years, CHARGE Syndrome Australasia has proudly supported the CHARGE syndrome communities in Australia and New Zealand. As our communities have grown, so too have the needs and opportunities to deliver more focused, responsive, and locally led support and activities.
To better serve each country’s unique needs and comply with the legal requirements for charitable organisations in each country, the CHARGE Syndrome Australasia board made the strategic decision in October 2025 to transition into two separate, independent charitable entities: CHARGE Syndrome Australia (CSA) and CHARGE Syndrome New Zealand Trust.
What’s changing?
CHARGE Syndrome Australasia is now CHARGE Syndrome Australia. We are the same registered Australian company (ACN 073 186 437) and charity, with the same website. We continue to support families in Australia.
CHARGE Syndrome New Zealand Trust has been established as a new, independent entity to support families in New Zealand.
Why the change?
This shift allows each organisation to:
Operate under local legal and financial frameworks
Develop country-specific programs and advocacy
Build stronger local partnerships
Deliver national events and services with local leadership
Most importantly, this change strengthens our ability to serve families and professionals in each country.
Continued collaboration
CHARGE Syndrome Australia and CHARGE Syndrome New Zealand Trust share a strong commitment to supporting families living with CHARGE syndrome. While we are now independent legal and financial entities, we intend to maintain a positive relationship and collaborate informally on shared goals and joint initiatives.
During this transition period, CHARGE Syndrome Australia will continue to host a landing page on its website for New Zealand’s CHARGE Syndrome Whānau Hui 2026 promotion until March 2026. After this date, CHARGE Syndrome New Zealand Trust will manage all communications and resources independently.
We sincerely thank all New Zealand Directors, past and recent, for their dedication and contributions to the CSA board over the years. We especially acknowledge Annette Stocker and Kelsey Dalton for their leadership in managing the recent transition, establishing the New Zealand entity, and driving preparations for the CHARGE Syndrome Whānau Hui 2026. Their guidance and commitment have been invaluable in supporting both the Australian and New Zealand CHARGE communities.
